So.... BMW X1 makes noise, doesn't change with speed, just noise and vibration through gear stick. Take to local garage, Allen & Cowser, who diagnose transfer box but not a job they wanted to undertake. Took car to several gearbox "specialists" who each diagnose something different, some will only help if I remove the gear box and deliver it, none mention transfer box. Found Motorsolve who confirmed transfer box. Got it booked in promptly, work carried out in timescale promised and within the cost quoted. Excellent and honest work carried out by professionals. Car drives like new again. Thank you to both garages for help diagnosing and repairing.

Excellent service with friendly, patient staff. I brought my car in with an overheating engine and failed heating system. Through an inspection of my vehicle, a couple of other issues were discovered, which required immediate attention. Scary words as a car owner (price 😬) They were able to pinpoint and fix areas of my vehicle, showing me the old damaged parts aswell as inform me of the harm that these were doing. This was all achieved at a reasonable price. I spoke with many members of staff, but mainly Charlie who was able to inform me of the work needing done and assure me when my car was safe and able to be returned. I've known the owner for over 15 years. Lovely guy. Always looked after my family's cars over the years through the car wash. Today, I went in for a 2nd opinion for a rattle and intermittant vibration issue on the front left of my Golf. The first garage had quoted me £504 to replace a wheel bearing and said this might not even fix your issue, its a starting point. Within 20 minutes of leaving the car with Gadebridge Service Centre, I was called to come and collect the car and road test it. The problem was gone. I was amazed. The problem was the wheel nuts were loose causing the tyre to wobble which is dangerous. I thought this had been caused by hitting a large pothole. The tyre with the issue has been replaced a few days prior to the problem by the garage that quoted me £504 to replace something that didn't need replacing. Gadebridge Garage explained that the wheel wouldn't have come loose from the pothole alone and the the impact might have eggagerated the the already loose wheel nuts. They also said, any garage should have seen the tyre was loose and tightened it. No real issue. I paid £45 for gadebridge Service centre for their services today, over the moon with their services. Shows you, an independant smaller garage really looks after their customers. Thank you guys.
