from 54 reviews on GoogleAlan and his team repaired the catalytic converter lock which had come loose on my car last week. Alan told me he could take a look at it the same day and within a couple of hours I had a call that the car was ready. He insisted no charge when I arrived as it was a simple fix once the car was on the lift. (In contrast, Lexus Reading, who had fitted the lock, wanted £170 to just 'investigate' the problem.) They are always happy to help and provide honest advice: last year I was advised on where to find a replacement part for another car, saving me about £200. The customer service is excellent and I feel that I am getting a quality service and value for money when taking my cars here. I wouldn't take my cars anywhere else in Reading.
Superb service, very helpful and always willing to go the extra mile to help customers. Alan is always totally honest about what needs doing, and he never makes promises on turnaround times that he can't keep. His prices are very reasonable too, and he always sticks to what he quotes. This is also one of those rare places where people with no knowledge of how cars work are treated with as much respect as people who do, and you can be sure you won't be overcharged or recommended anything that doesn't need doing. The service is polite and helpful, and the waiting room is nice and warm! I've been taking my cars to Alan for years, and I really can't recommend him highly enough.
Alan and the team have looked after my Audi and my previously owned cars for years. So honest and upfront with all estimates and what needs doing. I have been in reception when women have come in for advice/collection/MOT/service and are treated with impeccable manners. Often a garage can be an intimidating place for a female but these guys make sure everybody feels comfortable and confident their car is in good hands. Great value as well. For piece of mind this is the place to go, whatever make of vehicle you have.
I had an electrical fault with my S-Max which meant the car wouldn't start (although the call out engineer put in a direct link from starter motor to battery to get me going). Once it was running it affected random electronics including the blower (vital for defrosting the car in this weather). The car was almost unusable, considering the conditions, and had spent almost two days with Mr Clutch in Slough, next to my work. They hadn't worked the issue out and in the end they gave up!! I found AC Mechanical through a google search. The reviews were really good so I took a risk, he's not the cheapest, but I'm so glad I did. Alan found and resolved the fault pretty quickly, in the first morning of having the car, which after my Mr Clutch experience was positively surprising. As my car was due it's MOT within the month I then asked for that to be carried out and he managed to squeeze the car in that afternoon. All in all I have been really happy with the service I received and I will definitely go to Alan again if necessary. He's obviously an excellent trouble shooter. I'd highly recommend him.
